2007 WORLD LEAGUE MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PRELIMINARIES
IN NORTH AMERICA
ATLANTA, GA, JUNE 20, 2007 - The 2007 World League Men’s Volleyball Competitions return to North America this spring and summer along with the official court flooring of the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation). During the competition’s preliminary intercontinental rounds, the tangerine-colored portable court manufactured by Taraflex® Sports Flooring by Gerflor will appear in several locations in the United States and Canada.
This year marks the return of Team Canada to the international competition after a seven-year absence and the first usage in Canada of the.Taraflex® Sport M Plus court. The 29’ 6” by 59’ square foot court is bordered by teal, an FIVB-approved color.
Gerflor is the parent company of Taraflex Sports Flooring and the official flooring partner of the FIVB since 2005. The Taraflex court is being used when the eighth-ranked United States team plays its home matches against the French, Japanese and Italian teams in Portland, OR, Green Bay, WI and Chicago, IL and the 12th-ranked Canadian team competes against the Finnish, Brazilian and Korean teams in home games in London, Ontario, Mississauga, Ontario and Winnipeg.
“The portable Taraflex court being used by the World League serves the players in several ways,” says Nicolas Bauer, Gerflor national sports marketing manager. “These top performers know they will have the same superior surface for all their games.”
A total of 16 countries are taking part in this year’s World League Men’s Volleyball Competitions. The World League Finals will be played from July 11 through 15 in Katowice, Poland.
In 2005, Gerflor and the FIVB signed an exclusive four-year international agreement establishing Taraflex as the official flooring for every FIVB-sanctioned competition and event around the world including the Men’s and Women’s Senior World Championships, Men’s and Women’s Junior World Championships, Men’s World League, Women’s World Grand Prix finals and Men’s and Women’s World Cup.
Gerflor, through ITTF and FIVB agreements, will supply courts for Volleyball and Table Tennis tournaments during the next Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
