TARAFLEX TECHNOLOGY – REDEFINING PERFORMANCE
ATLANTA, GA, OCTOBER 25, 2007 - Taraflex® Sports Flooring by Gerflor earns its leading position in performance sports flooring through constant innovation and improvement. Not content to offer sports flooring for superior playing experiences only, Gerflor’s research and development department works to maximize the safety and durability of Taraflex floors. Enhancements to the Taraflex flooring line - Triple Action Protecsol® and D-Max™ - team up with the highly-effective Sanosol® treatment to benefit users.
Whether playing in an extremely competitive game or exercising in a physical education class, participants will enjoy the advantages of Taraflex floors with Triple Action Protecsol®. All Taraflex floors are manufactured with Triple Action Protecsol®. This patented surface treatment provides three key benefits.
- First, it is an intelligent surface treatment which delivers the correct amount of grip or slide depending upon what movement the player is making. It is essential for a sports floor to have the right amount of grip when it is time to accelerate and equally important to have the ability to slide smoothly when there is a need to pivot sharply. Triple Action Protecsol® guarantees accurate playability for the lifespan of the floor.
- Secondly, the number of friction burns drops dramatically with Triple Action Protecsol®. It reduces the heat generated between diving or sliding players and the floor’s surface by 25%. This low level is insufficient to cause irritating friction burns.
- Thirdly, the addition of this treatment makes Taraflex a remarkably low maintenance floor. It does not require the added work of polishing, waxing, coating or refinishing or any intensive periodic maintenance like some other sports or multipurpose floors. Taraflex floors clean with a daily damp mopping, are impermeable and stain and food spill resistant. These features add up to dramatically lower life cycle costs.
Taraflex’s newest advantage is the D-Max™ multi-layer surface designed with greater indentation resistance, durability and increased shock absorption for user protection. The D-Max™ surface design incorporates density and double layers. The highly durable D-Max™ surface layer is produced through a unique process where calendared, pressed and reinforced PVC layers of different thicknesses are combined with a reinforced non-woven fiberglass grid. The benefit of improved indentation resistance means after heavy bleachers, chairs, tables and other equipment are moved off the floor participants can return more quickly to a smooth and level playing surface. Taraflex® Sport M Plus, Taraflex® Sport Performance Plus and Taraflex® Multi-Use 5.0 are among the products with the D-Max™ multi-layer surface.
“Maximizing the playing or work-out experience is what Taraflex flooring is all about,” says Nicolas Bauer, national sports marketing manager. “Ongoing research and development funded by an amount equal to three percent of Gerflor’s worldwide sales guarantees our commitment to creating new and better sports and multipurpose flooring products.”
User safety has always been a top priority of Gerflor. More than 25 years ago, Sanosol® was introduced and became an essential additive in the manufacture of Taraflex floors. It is just as important now. Sanosol® is a permanent proprietary treatment that prevents bacteria, mold and microorganisms from developing. Its anti-microbial properties provide a clean, hygienic surface and reduce the risk of skin-related infections. Often, germs thrive under or on floors where heat and humidity cannot be easily controlled. However, a correctly-maintained Taraflex floor with SanosolÒ prevents the development and spread of bacteria, mold and fungus to protect players. Installed from the locker room to workout areas to racquet sport courts, Taraflex floors with the embedded Sanosol® treatment include Locker, Sport Performance Plus, Sport M Plus, Multi-Use 5.0, Multi-Use 3.0, Portable Table Tennis and Portable Badminton.
Taraflex is the official ATP court surface and used for all FIVB-sanctioned events internationally. Taraflex environmentally friendly flooring meets and exceeds the stringent performance standards mandated by all major flooring associations and can contribute credits to LEED certification. Taraflex floors consist of up to 43% recycled material and are 100% recyclable.
